Audacity: sound recording application (this has been out for a while, but we are exploring creative new ways of using it
When grading papers, instead of adding notes in the margin, you can record yourself responding and giving editing notes to the student. When the paper is returned to the student electronically, the supporting .MP3 recording that is created in Audacity is sent along with it. The strategy is currently being used by Carla Rineer in a business writing course. Both the students and Carla indicate that the audio approach works extremely well
Post daily Jings (DL) to point students to what is due and what is coming up, etc
Students view a Jing mini-lesson centered around a particular text or assignment and then they write something that they then post to the assignment feature in Blackboard
